It was great to get to know Mike over the past few years doing business with FCA. He always made me feel welcome to the Lynchburg area, telling me his favorite restaurants. Loved his stories and recall of Virginia history, his jokes! To Mike's family, may the God of peace comfort you in this time of loss. Pleasure to have known Mike! Mike Conner, Tipton, IN

Just heard about Mike's passing and a great guy has left us. We used to play together at in the neighborhood at Quaker Parkway back when we were just kids. We would hang together at the Ground Round and my friends and I would supply the fake heckling to lighten things up when Mark was managing and when he and Jay would play there. We also used to hit the ski slopes at Wintergreen and hang out with Mike and John at the white house and play tunes. He would also come out and play with us, Herbert Winebarger and friends, on the weekends and we always had a blast. Gonna miss that goofy grin when I would run into him around town and we would have a blast talking about the old times. I last saw him in Lake Vista not too long ago. Going to miss the sound of the Martin that he played and his voice. I am truly saddened by his passing but he left a lot of good memories for me and I know a lot of other folks. Bless you, and take the best of care.

I first met Mike during talent show rehearsals at E.C. Glass in the spring of 1970. I ran into him from time to time over the years and eventually ended up playing in The Hot Chilly Brothers band with him for about a decade. He was a great lead guitarist and vocalist and was always ready to play even after being on the road all week. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh which was pretty easy to trigger. I remember times we'd get on a roll and laugh until our stomachs hurt and practically had tears running down our face. He was a great friend and will definitely be missed.

Although not close friends Mike was one of those people who left a lasting impression on everyone who came into contact with him. I only enjoyed his presence briefly over the past 50 years since high School but I remember each and every one of them. RIP Mike, we will miss listening to you play your favorite Beatles songs.

'Its Friday'.
Located in the Midwest, Mike and I spoke daily always opening up with a 'good morning'. But on Friday it was different. The greeting was just 'Its Friday'. For me, it is only fitting that the Celebration of Mike's life is today on Friday. He was a rare individual with a personality 2nd to none. Expressing that I will 'miss him' just does not due justice so my only retort today is:
'Hey Mike, its Friday'.

Mike was a man of many talents. In my tenure at AHC we shared so much. I admired his knowledge and his tenacity but his greatest love was his music. My last long discussion with him will always linger. He was teaching Jaime the chords and riffs for Blackbird. The joy it was giving him was plain to see. To Jaime, Mikes family and friends our heart and thoughts go out to you all from the UK.

Mike was good at so many things. He was a "Rock and Roll" star and I loved to listen to his band at local establishments. He could remember musical artists or "licks" from songs that only a few others even knew about, and he could do it in about two seconds. I was always impressed with his music knowledge and talents. He was a also great salesman and hard worker before he became sick. He developed product lines from just ideas and customer communications and made sales all over the world for the company he worked for. He was fun to be around and a good man. As will happen to all of us he just kept getting older and his body simply wore down. Much too early in my opinion. But he did know how to have a good time and he did that with gusto and vigor. I will miss him as will many others. God speed Mike :) Stephen Cavanaugh, Lynchburg, Virginia

I was told that Mike was the nut to crack if I wanted to get the whole American Hofmann travel account back in the day.
I was introduced to Mike at one of the many parties at JW's house where he questioned, interrogated, threw every scenario at me and most importantly, could I always make sure he had an aisle seat? I sent Mike around the world, thousands of miles more over the years and doted over him like a newborn pup. The beginning of an almost 30-year friendship. His name for me was simply not Lisa but Lisa, Lisa and my replay was just Michael.
Mike was always quick with that big smile and his even bigger hugs. I loved him like a brother and he will be deeply missed.
I cannot hear ZZ Top and not think of Michael and his infamous closing song I've heard him perform a million times and it makes me smile.
Here's to seeing you in LaGrange my friend.

Mike would never let the stresses of work rob him of his enjoyment of a good joke. He could change the disposition of an entire room with a completely irrelevant story of from his rambunctious past. Mike I'll miss you ole friend. It was a gift from God to have worked alongside you these past 5 years. To his family I would offer the words of Jesus. "blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Draw near to God and he will draw near to you in this season of grief. I have found Him in my darkest hour, and you can find him too. My prayers are with you all.

You were my first contact at Hofmann so many years ago. We shared many great times over those years and it was difficult to leave an old friend when I moved on. You are gone far too soon! Rest In Peace, good sir.
