Mr. Freddie Lonnie "Buddy" Russell passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at his residence near Nacogdoches, Texas, at the age of 73.

Mr. Russell was born December 1, 1943, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to parents Freddie (Martines) and Jake Russell. He was a lifelong area resident. After working at International Paper, Buddy began a career of more than 30 years as an equipment operator with F.R. Lewis Construction which later became Pinto Construction.

A true outdoorsman, Buddy had a great joy of hunting and fishing. He also loved his guns and motorcycles and cherished his collections. Above all, he had a great love for his family. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

His survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ann Cloudy Russell; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pam Russell; granddaughter, Kristen Young and husband Andrew; granddaughter, Kelli Russell and her boyfriend, Gordon Pyle; a great-grandson, Kasen Young; his brothers, Angus Russell, Bobby Russell, and Lono Russell; a sister, Stella Black; and host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jake Russell; his mother, Freddie Prickett; and a sister, Marie Manchack.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10;30 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 1422 County Road 724 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, with Monsignor James E. Young officiating. Interment will follow at Gravel Ridge Cemetery, located on FM 225 South.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with a rosary following.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
