It was a true honor to know my Grandfather and be a part of his family. One of my most vivid memories as a boy was doing a book report on my Grandfather, in the 5th grade, about his heroic encounters and his undeniable spirit of survival in WWII as a POW. As a young boy, you dont understand the gravity of what you just heard or that the person who just shared it with you is a living, breathing hero. You dont need to go to a theatre and watch a 1000-inch screen to see a hero, sometimes you just have to drive a few blocks and have a seat next to one.

Our heartfelt condolences to all of the Martinez family. Thank you for the great pleasure of Mr. Martinez's company this last April as we remembered the 75th year of the surrender of Bataan at Bataan Memorial Park in Albuquerque, where his name and story of sacrifice will be remembered for generations to come. He earned his place in our State's, our Country's history.

What an honor it has been to know Grandpa and to be part of his family. He was blessed to live a long life and I believe that he lived it as one of the truest and proudest of patriots! God bless all of us too, during this time of loss, and especially Rosie and her family who took such good care of Grandpa over the years. With love and respect,
