Roy B. Robertson passed away September 18, 2017.
Roy was born October 16, 1926 in Knox City, TX to Newt and Sally Robertson. He was the 8th of 10 children born, 1 of 7 boys with 3 sisters. He attended Terral, OK schools, only going from December to May because crops, mainly cotton, that had to be picked during harvest in the fall. He was chosen Most Likely to Succeed by his peers in hid Senior Class. After graduation he worked some in California with his 2 brothers before returning home to Terral only to hitchhike to Fort Worth to find work. There he met the love of his life, Cloyce Cargill, at church who would later become his bride. Roy was called in to the service on May 1951 where he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. His daughter, Robin, was born while he was stationed in Cherry Pointe, North California. After his service in the Marines he and his little family returned to White Settlement. He served faithfully for the next 65 years. In 1965 daughter, Rhonda, was born to Roy and Cloyce and in 1964 Randall was born after which the family was complete. After returning from serving his time in the Marines he went to Convair, now Lockheed Martin, to put his application in for a job. He was told that since he only had one good eye that he was no use to them. He told him that he was good enough to serve his country, and he should be good enough to work for them. He was soon escorted out by security. He determined at that time he would work for himself and show everyone that he could be a success in business as well as in life. During Roy's time in White Settlement he served as City Manager and was a part of the White Settlement Chamber of Commerce for many years while a businessman in the city. In the early 1960's and 70's Roy also became a home builder and on 1974 he started building his first Nursing Home. He went on a from there to start a Home Health Company, Start a School for Nurse Aids and then RN's. He also had a Medical Equipment Company providing equipment for his Home Health Aides and nurses. He also worked many other venture during his later years always helping others. He was so good to hire men from the halfway house in White Settlement giving them a chance before they were released to go home and back to their lives at home. He made sure that every morning they read the daily devotions he provided for them. He was an awesome witness for our Lord for them. After losing his love, Cloyce, in 2008, and his son-in-law, Lanny, in 2009, he asked his daughter Rhonda to live with him and help him with all his work in 2013. A few months late he contracted shingles in his left eye, which took away the rest of his vision. He lost the vision of his right eye as a child, so he grew up with only the other eye. Upon losing his vision in 2014 he became totally dependent on others to take him around and do everything for him. He hated feeling like a burden, which was assured he wasn't. He was a faithful member of his church and was instrumental in all committees and gave in a way he could to serve hid Lord and Savior.
He loved his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He is survived by his children, Robin Bass and Husband, Roby, Rhonda Ferguson, Randall Robertson and wife, Cynthia; grandchildren, Kyle Ferguson and wife Melissa, Joshua Ferguson and wife Jennifer, Ryan Bass and wife, Chris Anna, Amanda Collett and husband, Brandon, Rachel Bass, Maycie Robertson and fiance' Matthew McAfee, Madelyn Robertson, and Cooper Robertson; great grandchildren, Abigail Ferguson, Kamden Ferguson, Cole Ferguson, Beckett Ferguson, Cody Collett, Everest Bass, Cason Ferguson, Brinlee Ferguson, Emery Bass, and Ellison Bass; his special extended family Scott and Michele Bailey and daughters Alexandra, Kennedy, and Chloe Lancaster; and his special friends, Louise Turner and son, Donnie Turner.

I have just learned of Mr. R's passing, and wish to offer belated condolences to his family. A true Texas pioneer, I worked as part of his and his business partner's home health team at Total Home Health, for many years. A steadfast man in his opinions, and his friendship.

I am just now hearing of Roy's passing. I would just like the family to know what Roy meant to me. Roy was an old fashioned, kind hearted, and strong man. I met Roy almost 10 years ago when I worked for an auto salvage. Roy would frequently buy used parts and used cars for people with low income. And although there was probably a 60 year age difference between us, we became friends. He was always giving me business tips and advice. I truly admired him for hiring people who needed a second chance at life. He told me the majority of the time he would get the best employees because they were so thankful and that occasionally you would run across a "bad apple" but all the good made up for the occasional bad. So, Thank you Roy for being an inspiration to me and for giving me business advice along the way. Roy was a legendary man.

My family and I are sorry for your loss. I feel extremely lucky to have gotten the opportunity to know and work with Roy for the brief time I was able. I admired him greatly and enjoyed the time he gave me.
Every day I was out with Roy was an adventure. He would always apologize for burdening me by having to drive him around. I hope he believed me when I told him -- because it was 100% true -- that driving him around was no burden at all, and in fact was a pleasure. I count my days working with Roy as some of the most rewarding and most entertaining days of my entire career.
I must've told and re-told the story of Roy dragging me over to Weatherford to pluck an abandoned bass boat out a ditch a hundred times.
He was an exceptional man. I regret that I only got to know him for so briefly.
