WALTER B. WALKER
June 3, 1941 – September 19, 2017
Walter Walker, 76, of Chuluota, Florida went to be with our Lord Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Son of Maurine Barrett Walker and Buckner Heber Walker, beloved husband of Roberta Walker, passed away at Savannah Cottage in Oviedo, Florida after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Walt was born in Ruston, Louisiana. When Walt was 2 years old the family moved to Florida. After graduating from high school in 1958 Walt enlisted in the Air Force. He served 4 years from 1958 to 1962 as an Aircraft Mechanic. After serving in the military he decided to further his education. He attended Orlando Junior College and received an Associate’s Degree in 1966. In 1969 he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and a Master’s of Science Degree from the University of South Florida. After graduation he was recruited by Westinghouse in Tampa, Florida as a Mechanical Engineer. The Tampa plant closed in the 1980’s and he was transferred to Westinghouse Power Generation in Orlando. Siemens purchased Westinghouse in the 1990’s. In his last years before retiring from Siemens he was a Project Manager for the Harbin Power Plant in Harbin, China. After 34 years with Westinghouse and Siemens Corporation he retired. Walt enjoyed his years working as an Engineer and he enjoyed his retirement. You could always find him working in the yard or in his well-stocked garage.
He is survived by his wife Roberta Walker and his step-children Marc Fishman, Susan (Dave) Clark, Stephen (Tami) Fishman and his 5 grandchildren Cody, Caseay, Kaitlyn, Jeremy and Kourtney, his brother Philip Walker, sisters Dawn (Paul) Smith, Myra (Ben) Williams and Pat Summers and 9 nieces and nephews. Walt,
We are sad to see you go but our hearts rejoice in knowing you are finally free to be you again! I can't even imagine the overwhelming feeling of joy you felt when you were released of your afflictions and reunited with your family in Heaven. As I promised you, don't you worry about mom. We will take good care of her until the day the Lord brings the two of you back together. Enjoy your paradise; you deserve it and are dearly loved and will never be forgotten!
Love,
Suzy, Dave, Cody, Kaitlyn & Kourtney

I am always going to remember Walt's wonderful sense of humor and easygoing way. While I am sorry that he had to leave, I feel thankful that he is free from his physical frailties and instead walks in love and light with our Saviour. God's blessings on his whole family, but especially Roberta, who took the most loving and devoted care of him no matter what. I know Walt felt safe and loved at all times. What a blessing.
