Roberto "Bob" Rivera, 88, a resident of Harrisonburg passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on September 25, 1928 in Añasco, Puerto Rico and was the son of the late Ricardo Rivera and Leocadia Rivera Mercado.
Bob served in the Army Air Corp from 1947-1949; He was a member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church and enjoyed golfing and listening to classical music, his favorite was The Three Tenors.
On October 17, 1973 he married the former Kathleen Marie McCracken, who survives.
He is also survived by his children, Katie M. Ritchie of Harrisonburg, Nancy Gonzales, of Puerto Rico, LuAnn Wanger of Kansas, and Jeffery Rivera of Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, September 22, 2017 at Woodbine Cemetery with Pastor Mark Mays officiating. Military honors will be performed by Dayton American Legion Post #27.
