Lemerle F. Stephens, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Dale Medical Center. She was 76.

Graveside services were held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directed.

Mrs. Stephens was born in Dale County on May 22, 1941 where she lived all of her life. She spent 28 years working as a clerk for the Tax Assessor Office in Dale County and attended the Ozark First Assembly of God Church.

She is predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Larry Stephens, and a daughter, Laura Jean Melvin.

She is survived by two children, Oliva Ann Toth of Ozark and Larry Dwain Stephens of Cowarts; 13 grandchildren including Tania Jones; 6 great-grandchildren including Jedediah Jones; a brother LaDerle Faulk (Lynda) of Dothan; two sisters, Ruby J. Adams of Dothan and Mary Phillips (Gene) of Ashford; several nieces and nephews also survive.
