Myrl L. "Bill" Evans Jr., 67, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Unity Point\Methodist Hospital in Peoria surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 31, 1950 in Peoria to Myrl L. and Louise (Bastian) Evans Sr. He married Diane Slater on November 8, 1969 in Peoria, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Tony (Mary) Evans of Peoria, Brian (Valery) Evans and Kevin Evans both of East Peoria; eight grandchildren and one great grandson; two brothers, Gene Smith of Port Byron, Illinois and Jerry Evans of Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by one grandson and one brother.
Bill worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in the Steel and Wire Mills for 43 years, retiring in 2012. He was an avid Chicago sports fan being it the Cubs, Blackhawks, Bulls or Bears. He loved camping with his family and fishing. He played, coached, umpired and refereed many sports in earlier years. He enjoyed bowling. Bill was a proud U.S. Marine serving in the Vietnam Conflict.
A celebration of life will be Friday, September 29, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Cremation rites will follow. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Cancer Care or to the Wounded Warriors. You may create an online condolence at www.davison-fultonbartonvillechapel.com.
