Richard “Dicker” Fryer
Born on October 31, 1936 in Colorado Springs, CO passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017.
Survived by his wife, Lynn, and his children: Teshia Deal, Raymond & Holly Page, Christa & Todd Campbell and Piper & Rachel Rexroat. Grandchildren: Christopher, Emily, Anthony, Alyssa, and Adam. And one great grandchild: Gabriel.
His sister and brother in law: Donna and Jim Dereck. Their son and his family: Rob, Roberta, Dannielle, and Dana.
His nephew and wife: Shaun and Alison Adams.
It’s difficult to name everyone that was “family” to Dicker but there are some that were there for holidays, celebrations, etc…. the good times and bad: Tracy Inman and Patricia, Megan and Genna Foster.
Dicker was a firefighter for more than 30 years at the City of San Bernardino. He loved fishing, camping, and skiing. Dick and Lynn spent more than two years traveling in their RV. Later in life he enjoyed spending time with his family…often instigating shenanigans. When not with family he found joy in a quiet life with Lynn; building bird houses, watching dear, squirrels, and birds. And spoiling his dogs!
He will be greatly missed.

I met some in the Fire Service, a very few, -who were his equal, but none who were made of better stuff than Dick Fryer.
He left me with tons of fond memories; some hilarious; some amazing. RIP, Dicker.

Dicker could have been the reason behind the song "He didn't have to be". There is so much I could write....
We will miss him dearly.

I never really worked with Dick much, but knew him and respected him. I pray for his family during their loss.

John and I enjoyed all the get togethers at Dick's house, he was a fun and loyal friend, he and all the other Firemen always had a good time. He had a great smile and sense of humor..

For 30 years, I have had the privilege to be an extended part of this family. It was a honor to have Dicker as an "adopted Dad". He was there when all of us kids were growing up through high school and well into our adult lives. He was the Grandfather to my two girls. Always had a warm smile for us and never once did he seem unhappy.
Yes, hearts are breaking due to our loss but have comfort in knowing that we will all be reunited with him. So, don't remember Dicker with tears or a heavy heart, he would not want that for us. Think of the memories that he shared and made with each of us to hold in our hearts.
Now, you can rest in peace, Dad. Find comfort in knowing that we will go on, until we are able to see you again. Much love and respect for you and much love and prayers for those you left behind.

I worked with Dick on the San Bernardino City Fire Department for a number of years and had a high respect for him.
We went fishing together in Kino Bay, MX on Dick's boat "Crapshooter". In fact on one trip the boat broke down and we had to spend a cold night in Dog Bay until our friends Jack and Benita could come out and tow us in about 12 miles. It was so cold that we tore apart cardboard beer cases and used them as blankets. We had five souls on board that night: Dick, Frank Bartlett, Jim Beattie, Bill Ashton and myself. I think that Dick and Frank had the Black Velvet going to keep them warm.
I say good bye to a fellow Firefighter and friend. May you rest in peace.
