James Herbert Moll Sr., passed away quietly in his residence on October 2, 2017.
James was born on September 28, 1920, in Fleetwood, Pa. He was the son of late James O. and Anna R. (Koller) Moll.
He is the husband of Fern L. (Weaver) Moll. They were married on October 8, 1946, by Alderman Charles Lease celebrating 70 years of marriage in 2016.
He is survived by four children: daughter, Donna M., wife of Richard Noah Sr.; son, Daniel L. Moll; daughter, Kathi E., wife of Christy Fritz; and daughter, Lois E., wife of Michael Schade; and two brothers, Eugene and Ernest. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-granddaughter.
James was predeceased by his son, James H. Moll Jr., husband of Vickie (Keller) Moll ; a grandson, Matthew Noah; a great-granddaughter, Janette Smith; sisters: Carrie, Edna, Rhea, Florence, Irene; and brothers: Walter, Luke and Frances.
James served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was stationed in the Philippines as a truck driver.
He worked at the Birdsboro Steel Factory as an electric furnace operator for 38 years before retiring in 1986, just before the plant closed its doors.
He is a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Laureldale, since 1946 where he was confirmed with his wife, sister and brother-in-law, and attended church regularly.
Throughout his lifetime, James enjoyed WWF wrestling, roller derby and camping with family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed attending the Reading Phillies and going out to breakfast on a Tuesday with "the breakfast crew."
Services will be Friday, October 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Auman's Inc Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading. Burial to follow with military honors at Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be Friday, 9-10 a.m., in the funeral home.
Donations may be made in memory of James to Calvary Lutheran Church, 1109 Elizabeth Ave., Laureldale, PA 19605 or to the Lebanon VA Hospital, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
