Victor Lee French, age 74, of Greenville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 2:13 AM at Kettering Medical Center. He was born on May 18, 1943, in Greenville, Ohio, to Harold Victor French of Greenville and the late Lois (Martin) French. Vic was actively involved in taking care of his parents.
Vic is survived by his wife of 53 years Rebecca S. (McCabe) French; children, Beth Ann Fisherback of Greenville, Gwen Sue & D. Duane Warvel of Versailles, and Dane Lee & Kirsten French of Greenville; grandchildren, Jordyn Fisherback, Jenna Fisherback, Sadie (Kyle) Beachy, Chloe Warvel, Trevyn & Abby French, Ty & Morgan French, and Taylin (Kyle) Ramey; great grandchildren, Charlotte Anne "Annie" Beachy, Henry French, Rohan French, and Norah and Hayden Ramey; brother and sister in law, Steve & Nina French of Greenville; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Vic is preceded in death by his sister Debbie Jackson.
Vic worked at the American Water Company for 35 years and was also a farmer. He was a member of the EUM Church and Masonic Lodge. Vic was a people person as he never met a stranger. He was a very giving man and volunteered his time through FISH where he was also a board member. He also was active at the Red Cross where he helped after Hurricane Katrina and was an avid blood donor. He was a huge sports fan enjoying OSU football (we will have the OSU game playing on Saturday), NASCAR where he went to Talladega for many years, and Duke Basketball. He was also a volunteer assistant basketball coach for local high schools. Despite everything he did for his community, his family was most important to him. He enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams, loved attending family events and spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren. His family will forever cherish the 50th wedding anniversary trip to Destin, Florida, and he will be greatly missed by many.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 4:00 PM at EUM Church, 1451 Sater St., Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Jeff Harper officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 2-6 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
It is the wishes of the family that people bring canned goods to either the visitation at the funeral home or celebration of life at the church to be donated to a local food bank or donations can be made to the American Liver Foundation.

I want to tell all the French family how sorry we are for your loss. I've known the French's all my life and enjoyed being neighbors for many years. It was never the same on Otterbein Ithaca after you left. You all are special people. Many memories are crossing my mind and many smiles with them. One is those many times we all looked like fools chasing those black cattle who kept escaping. I'd hate to say how many times Vic put that gate back up.
May God give you His peace and comfort in mighty ways in the days to come.
