To the entire Link family, please know my thoughts are with you during this trying time. As a youngster growing up at Bunn Park I was fortunate to have known Dave for nearly 40 years. I have many, many fond memories of those years and Dave will be remembered for having been involved in many of them. It never seemed to matter how long it had been since our last meeting or conversation, Dave always left me knowing I had just spoken with a friend. Rest in peace my brother.

Tricia: My heart hurts for your loss. Dave and I went to school together not only at Southeast, but Harvard Park and Jefferson as well.

I remember his great sense of humor and genuine kindness.

I know he will be missed.

My prayers are with you.

Dave and I grew up just a few houses apart on Delmar Drive. From his backyard, we used to tinker with our golf swings by hitting old golf balls over a row of trees that stood where Taylor Road is now and into a corn field. We would then go retrieve them so we could hit some more. During the summer, Mr. Link (Dave's dad) would often drop us off at Bunn Park on his way to work in the morning. We would spend the day golfing and hanging out in the clubhouse (with lots of other golfers that will likely remember this) before walking home though that corn field to make it home in time for dinner. I treasure those memories, and have loved the game of golf, as I know Dave did, ever since.

Dave was a great friend to me and so many others. Even then, as kids, Dave had a magnetic personality people of all ages were drawn to him, and enjoyed being around him.

I write to express my deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones on their loss. He was truly special and will be missed.

Dear Link family,

I'm so sorry to read this obituary. David and I went to kindergarten together at Harvard Park. My dad (Irv Smith) would pick us up after school. Occasionally he would get held up, and we got bored waiting for him. Since there were only two of us, we tied one end of the jump rope to the fire escape and took turns turning the other end. I lost track of David when we moved out of the neighborhood, but I'll always remember our jump roping creativity. We just could not sit still! Peace to you my friend.
