Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
He was born in Collins, MS on November 3, 1927 and was raised in Caris, IL. After high school the family moved to Tallulah, LA where he coached basketball at the high school and met his beautiful wife of 58 years and he lost her on September 6, 2008.
He was a very loving husband who kept his wife at home caring for her until her passing.
They lived in Tallulah until being transferred to Jackson, MS. At that time he was working for Anderson, Clayton, Paymaster Oil Mill Company and the Bunge Corp. where he was a superintendent and traveled the country talking on safety. Very well known for his jokes before speeches. He served as president of Tri State Oil Mills Processing Soybeans.
When they came to Jackson, MS, they had their only daughter, Carol Buffington. Not long after being here they had two sons, Bobby Rush and Jimmy Rush.
That’s when he started coaching baseball teams. He was very passionate and loved coaching. He played golf, but his favorite joy was going to his lake house at Lake Bruin in LA to fish and boat ride with his children and grandchildren.
He was in the National Guard, 32 Degree Mason, very active in the Episcopal Church. He received an award for saving Jackson in 1954 for defusing dynamite at the plant. He loved his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia “Pat” Rush; his parents, Lorleann and J.L. Rush; brother, Bufkin Rush; and sister, Kitty Rush.
He leaves behind his children, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha Ann Cullens of Atlanta, GA and Betty Lee Hogan of Houston, TX.

Bobby Rush,
I just wanted you to know we are thinking of you and your family. I especially am thinking of your children as they experience the loss of a grandparent. I am sure your son has many questions. Shea and I look forward to seeing you soon. Remember to take one step at a time, that is all you can do when so much is on your shoulders.
You are in our prayers.
