Steven R. Krug, 75, of Belleville, IL, born July 6, 1942 In Belleville, passed away October 8, 2017 in Swansea, IL.
Mr. Krug was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Belleville where he was active in the Men & Ladies Fellowship. After working as a foreman for East St. Louis Castings Co., Steve became an officer for the Belleville Police Dept. in 1973. While with the department, he rose to the rank of Detective in Crime Scene Investigation, serving in that capacity for over 20 years. He was also involved with the Scuba Search and Rescue team, as well as being trained in arson investigation and hostage negotiation. In his free time, Mr. Krug was an avid fan of old cars, NASCAR, loved trains and model railroading, bicycling, and reading. Some of his most favorite times were spent at the farm in the country.
Steve was loved and respected by all who knew him. In his own quiet way he helped wherever and whomever he could, even in the last two years at Sycamore Village assisted Living. He will always and fondly be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar B. and Dorothy, nee Meder, Krug; and a brother, Kerry Krug.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandy, nee Zimmermann, Krug; a daughter, Julie (Eric) Walker; a granddaughter, Hannah Walker; one sibling, Wendy (Janice) Krug; an aunt, Lorena Faskell, an uncle, Gary (Frances) Krug; three nephews, Mark (Fabia) Krug, Lance (Tonya) Krug, and Chris Krug; and special friends, Mary and Dennis Ballard, Sandy and Alva Jones, Jim and Rose Fischer, and Rev. Dr. James and Phyllis Schuetz. Our family wishes to offer gratitude and great appreciation for the support of our church family, friends, VITAS Hospice, and for the loving care given by the staff of Sycamore Village Assisted Living.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois, Fairview Heights, IL and from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Friday at Trinity UCC.
Funeral: Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at Trinity UCC, 47 N. Douglas, Belleville, IL with Pastor Cory Hartz officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

Today we grieve...tomorrow we remember the good times we shared...Steven the last minute Best Man, farm "handyman", the many New Year's Eve celebrations, christenings,graduations and many, many more.
