Mr. Donald Lee Wilcox, age 66, of Marietta, GA., passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Mr. Wilcox was born April 25, 1951 in Upland, California, a son of the late Donald Lee Wilcox Sr. and Janet Louise Houston Wilcox Cansler.
Mr. Wilcox moved to Marietta in 1961 and attended Sprayberry High School and Kennesaw State University. His working career was spent as Branch Manager for Wertz Welding and Tank. Donald was a faithful member and deacon of Mt. Arbor Baptist Church in Marietta. One of his favorite hobbies and passions was coaching for the Blackwell Bears, Sprayberry Jr. Jackets, and Shaw Park Baseball. Donald truly made a lasting impact on the young gentlemen he had the opportunity of coaching. Up until the day he passed his sense of humor and infectious personality were more than evident. However, what was always evident about Donald throughout his entire life was the love and dedication he had for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, Donald is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Rowe, sister-in-law Vickie Wilcox, and step-father Martin Cansler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Wilcox; two children, Andy Wilcox of Kennesaw, GA, and Jonathan Wilcox, wife Dawn, of Woodstock, GA.; one brother, James Wilcox of Kennesaw; three grandchildren, Samantha, Ansleigh, and Madison; and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Donald Lee Wilcox will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Denny Moss and Mr. Wyatt Wood officiating. Interment will take place in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hayesville, N.C. at two o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
A visitation with the family will take place from six o'clock in the evening until nine on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers, Andy Wilcox, Jonathan Wilcox, Casey Cook, James Wilcox, Jeremy Wilcox, and Derrick Wilcox. Honorary Pallbearers are as follows, Dawn Wilcox, Emily Cook, Samantha Wilcox, Ansleigh Wilcox, and Madison Wilcox.

Wilcox family,
Don was one of the kindest and caring people that I and everyone else at RW McCollum Co had the pleasure of working with. It was impossible to tell if he was having a bad day when you talked to him on the phone because he was always so friendly. Every time I talked to Don on the phone or saw him, he always seemed to put a smile on my face. What a wonderful man. He will be missed. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Don exemplified these words.
"Live" simply, "Love" generously, "Care" deeply and "Speak" kindly.
And leave the rest to God!
Folks..... we can honor him by doing the same! Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn his passing. But let's not forget his kindness and his gentle demeanor as we cherish the memories of his laughter and his proud accomplishments! Take faith in knowing his life now moves to another stage, a more heavenly stage, a stage that exists for him and for each of us. Gods speed, my friend! Here's to seeing you on the other side!

Wilcox family, we at Mansfield Oil Company were a customer of Don's through Wert's for over 15 yrs. During this time, Don became much more than a vendor as we all enjoyed cutting up and teasing with him during our visits to the shop. He was a good man.
