Rita Carol (Novacek) Getty, 77, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away October 13, 2017.
She was born in David City, Nebraska, on June 28, 1940. Rita graduated from Guardian Angels in West Point Nebraska in 1958. When she was 19 she bought a one-way ticket to California, and worked at Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm.
She married Bill Getty on October 26, 1963. She became a stay at home mother of four before returning to the workforce in the banking industry in 1978. She moved to Texas in 1998 and worked in administration for The Woodlands Christian Academy then retired in 2007.
She was a member of Sweet Adelines for over 20 years in Southern California, and loved to sing and perform. She had a passion for entertaining, cooking for loved ones, and her children. She always put her children first in every decision she made.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Novacek; mother, Margaret Novacek; and Bill Getty.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Cheri) Getty, Teri Bento, Danny Getty, Mark (Michelle) Getty; and her grandchildren, Brandi, Nate, Joseph, Jessica, James, Jack, Josh, Billy, and Katherine. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill Novacek and Tom (Becky) Novacek; and sisters, Kathy (Steve) Durbin and Jean (Scott) Wagner.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on October 17, 2017, in the chapel of Forest Park Funeral Home in The Woodlands, Texas. Following the service, a reception will take place in Forest Park's event room.

Rita, thank you for the part you played that California summer of 1968, that started the Durbin/Novacek saga: A 49 year marriage to Katherine that saved my life and produced 4 sons, 11 grandchildren and thousands of students who went on to contribute to society...what a legacy!
