Ann Sharon Hogan, beloved sister of Matthew M. Hogan, Joan Hogan Reinhart and husband Jim, Laura Hogan and husband Noel, and Thomas Hogan, aunt to Melanie Kohler and Malachi Hogan Bray, great-aunt to Malakai Kohler and Malachi Bray jr., cousin to Kurt Johnson and Lisa Surphlis, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2017 at her home in Madison, CT. She was predeceased by her parents Joan Marzano Hogan and Matthew J. Hogan, and her beloved brother Larry Hogan.
Annie was born at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown on March 20th, 1948. Her first home was at Veteran's Village on the Wesleyan campus with her parents. She spent her next few years in Avon and then the family moved to Hartford spending summers at Chapman Beach in Westbrook where Annie loved to swim and be with friends and family and her beloved dog Pookie. She attended Mansfield State Training School and then resided at several different group homes until moving to Wildwood Ave. in Madison. Annie had a sweet, gentle, loving nature and she charmed all who met her with her enthusiasm and joy for life. She loved to dance, and sing, and ride on the back of a motorcycle with no hands. She was a strong, stubborn redhead and a hard worker who loved to help out whenever she could. But she was also mischievous and loved to laugh at us - often by giving us rabbit-ears in our family photos. But in her own photos she would strike her sexy Marilyn Monroe pose and look poised and beautiful. She dearly loved her family and friends and Elvis. And we dearly loved her. We are so lucky and grateful to have had her in our lives. We are the better for it.
We welcome you to calling hours from 2:00pm - 6:00pm on Friday, Oct 20th at the Swan Funeral Home , 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison with a service at 3:30pm. Dear Hogan Family--Sincere love and sympathy to all of you in your loss of Ann. I was a close friend and classmate of her late Mom, Joan Marzano Hogan---from the time of our being in grade school together at the old Southwest School in Hartford to her passing day at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford. What a lovely legacy Ann has left for all of you. God be with all as you process your grief and continue to profit from the many ways Ann has left you better people.
