Michael Foley Obituary

Michael Patrick Foley, 31, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 14, 2017. He was born November 30, 1985 in New Orleans; son of Richard and Gina (Chryssoverges) Foley. He attended Jesuit High School and graduated from the University of New Orleans receiving a B.S. in Finance.

Michael was an account officer at Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union, working there for over 4 years.

Michael was a handsome young man with a beautiful soul. He was compassionate, helpful and he could brighten a room with his sense of humor and outgoing personality. Michael was easy going and easy to love. He will be missed by many.

He was a Tottenham Hotspurs fan, and he traveled to London to see them. He loved fantasy football, but mostly because of the friends he shared it with.

Michael is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Patricia Minor; his maternal grandfather, Theophile Chryssoverges; and his cousin, Kyle Chryssoverges.

Michael is survived by his parents, his sister, Shannon Reboul (Carl), and his niece and godchild, Camille Reboul. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Richard Foley and Carol Moore; his maternal grandmother, Rosemary Chryssoverges and by many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Monday, October 23, 2017. Visitation will be held from 11:00-2:00pm, followed by a mass. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Heart Association. Micheal I don't know how you could of left so soon. You reminded me of a favorite son with a bright smile and cheerful outlook. I always enjoyed our conversations and it was always a pleasure to see a young man on his way to being successful . Such a pity to see that cut short.Any and all that had the pleasure to meet you will surely miss you I know I do now. When I see the sun shine I will know that part of that is your smile from above. Be good and don't overcharge Saint Peter or there will be hell to pay. See you on ther other side. God Bless

I am so very sorry for this unexpected loss. I had the pleasure of working with both Shannon and Michael at GNO and I can honestly say that I never saw him have a bad day or ever knew him to be in a bad mood. He was one of the sweetest guys ever and his presence will be missed.

My deepest sympathies. I cannot begin to fathom the grief this family is feeling right now, I can only offer the promise of God's word and a heartfelt prayer.

Almighty God,
We ask You bring comfort and peace. Peace is your essence. Peace is your name. Bring peace to this family who has lost their precious child in death.

We come to you, God because we know that you sorrow, and are acquainted with grief. You too have endured the loss of a child. You empathize.

We can't help but ask, Why? Forgive our insistence, our confusion, even our anger. We believe that you are just, and we ache to understand how this tragic death is an expression of that justice, how it expresses your love. We also know in our minds at least that you seldom answer the why? question. We press you, but on these matters, you are mostly silent.

What we ask instead is how? How can we move forward? How can this bring us together and not tear us apart? How can we now live under the shadow of this untimely death? Answer this prayer with your comfort and guidance.

There is no way to remove the pain. The grief is real. The only sanity is to know, to believe, in a life beyond with you when all the scales are righted and the sufferings are made good. We trust you and your promise that while this child's life on earth is done, his life beyond has just begun. With that release we lose him and let him go into your arms, then by faith receive in return the boundless comfort of your presence. That is all, that is enough.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

The Foleys were my second family growing up, and Michael was my "brother from another mother," as they say. I'll always remember the great memories we made as kids and I thank your family for being such a big part of my life. I wish I would have kept in touch more as an adult, but time and distance get the better of us every time. Michael was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed.
