It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was surrounded and supported by loving family and friends. Charlotte was born on May 21, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. Born the first of two children to Karl and Sofie Kaechele. She came to California in 1956. She met her husband, Alfred, at a dance in Pasadena and they were married in 1959. They lived briefly in Woodland Hills, Simi Valley, and in 1972 they settled in Thousand Oaks. Charlotte was a homemaker and was also employed with Pacific Telephone for many years as a Telephone Operator. Charlotte spent her time enjoying her family and friends. She was an avid reader and history lover, she also enjoyed needlepoint, listening to music, playing the organ, and spending time at her cabin in Lake Arrowhead. Charlotte is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter Lori McFarland (Brian), grandchildren Brian and Megan McFarland, brother Walt Kaechele, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Alfred F. Berger and husband Alfred B. Berger. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Charlotte's life will be celebrated on Saturday morning October 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Services have been entrusted to Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park and Mortuary in Westlake Village.
