Collier Riley Wyche, Jr.
89, of Tampa passed away October 18, 2017. Collier was known as a humble man of integrity, a loving husband, and father. The eldest of four boys, Collier was born in Jacksonville on January 17, 1928 and raised during The Great Depression. He developed a work ethic of integrity and an irrepressible spirit. At 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps while attending Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville. Collier later came to work for GAC Finance in Tampa where he met the love of his life, and wife of 61 years, Josephine Jean Costa, a native of Ybor City. They raised two boys in their South Tampa home until Josephine's passing in February 2015. Collier retired as General Manager of the Hillsborough County Tax Collectors Office in 1991 after which he and Josephine enjoyed many cruises and trips with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and golfer. With a passion for baseball, he was a coach and manager at Palma Ciea Little League, an Umpire for the West Coast Umpires, and a Director of Boys Baseball in Tampa. He was a dedicated parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church where he served as President of the Dad's club for the school and later attended Christ the King. Collier was preceded in death by his wife Josephine, his parents, brothers Johnny and Buddy Wyche, step sister Nina Bunch Crossen. Collier is survived by sons Frank and Bobby, brother Howard Bunch, sisters Carolyn Drazien and Sandra Ort, sister-in-law, Gloria Costa, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday Oct 28 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home 605 S.MacDill Ave Tampa FL from 1pm to 3 pm with services following. Burial with a graveside service will take place on Monday Oct 30 at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, P.O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064 or online at www.youthranches.org.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Collier. It is a reminder of how precious are time together is lost in this fast paced world that we live in. It seemed like yesterday when we were boys listening to our parents talk of their friendship when they grew up together. Collier was a good man, friend to my family and most important, a good husband and father Rest in peace Collier.
