Roger Frank "Rick" Crowe, age 72, passed away at the Select Specialty Hospital, Tuesday October 3, 2017 from respiratory issues. Rick was born April 10, 1945 to Roger J Crowe and Ester Irene Potter in Ellwood City, PA. When Rick was 13, his family moved to St. Cloud, FL and Rick grew up playing sports and working on cattle ranches. He developed a passion for horses and excelled in baseball. He was described by his high school coach as a "natural" and "the best first baseman and hitter I have ever coached". After graduating from St. Cloud High School, Rick attended Florida State University graduating in 1968 with a degree in Criminology and Corrections. Highlights of his working career include; Deputy Sheri?, Leon County from 1972-1975, Assistant Operations Manager, Bokenkamp Drilling Company, Lafayette, LA,
1975-1982, self-employed Cutting Horse Training, Brenham, TX and Auburn, WA, 1982-1998, Drug Court Counselor/Coordinator, Disc Adolescent Drug Rehab Program and Disc Village Drug Court Counselor for Leon and Wakulla Counties, 1998-2004, and from 2005 to present, Supervisor, Division of Florida Condominiums, Bureau of Standards and Registration, Condominium Section.
Notable achievements and fondest work experiences were training the 1991 and 1994 National Cutting and Reining Horses, drug rehab for many adolescent males, selected as Employee of the Year in 2003, and his latest experiences with his work team at the Condominium Section.
Rick had a strong work ethic and loved his team and that love was demonstrated through the years, especially during his recent illness and health issues. Rick was married and divorced twice and has a daughter by his first marriage. Rick loved sports and in his later years became an avid golfer and spent special time boating and fishing. He was also a Florida State Seminole fan and particularly loved football season and the Tampa Bay Bucs!
Rick was proceeded in death by his mother, Ester Crowe in 2005, his youngest brother Timothy Crowe in 2009, and his father Roger J Crowe in 2015.
Rick is survived by a daughter, Terri L. Crowe (Sam) Virgillio, a brother John (Betty) Crowe, four nephews, John jr. (Shannon) Crowe, Tyler (Angie) Crowe, Matthew (Emily) Crowe, and David Crowe.
A celebration of life is to be held at a later date and any donations should go to a charity of your choice or to the Red Cross as they assist the many su?ering from the recent hurricanes.
