Mr. James Kermit Galloway, Sr., age 78, of Supply, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, the twentieth of October, 2017 in the Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, Bolivia, NC.
Kermit was born in Brunswick County, NC on the twenty-fourth of January 1939 to the late James Lorenza and Margaret Oneida Hewett Galloway. He was a US Army veteran, member of the Shallotte Masonic Lodge, AF&AM, # 727 and the Sudan Shrine. Kermit spent his adult life on the water which he loved. He owned his own shrimp boat the "Miss Kim" from 1967 until 1979 then began a distinguished twenty-five year career as a tug boat captain for McKallister Towing, Furlough Tugboat Company and Gore Marine Transportation. He was preceded in death by his first wife Brenda Hewett Galloway, a brother, John T. "Buster" Galloway and a sister, Margaret Allene G. Huddleston.
Surviving are his loving wife Betty Sing Galloway; two sons, James K. "Tubby" Galloway and wife Keillia, Brent Varnam and wife Rebecca; a daughter, Kim G. Todd and husband George; a brother, Ed Galloway; a sister, Anna G. Brady; grandchildren, Lindsey Blankenship and husband Adam, Stephen Todd, Ryan Todd, Peyton Galloway, Jayden Galloway, Joshua Galloway, Ashleigh Robinson, Ashton Varnam and Hannah Varnam.
Funeral services will be two o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the twenty-third of October 2017, in the Gospel Center Baptist Church with The Reverend Foyd Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery.
You are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Sunday, the twenty-second of October 2017 in White Funeral Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel.
In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that monetary donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
