Alton - Richard Paul Stevenson, 73, died October 22, 2017, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 29, 1944, in Newport a son of Kenneth Leroy and Arline Elzabeth (Lahaye) Stevenson.
Richard grew up in Dixmont and proudly served in the US Army. He was employed at Old Town Canoe for 40 years, retiring in 2006. While at Old Town Canoe, he designed several of the machines still in use today. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and stock car racing. He was proud that he was able to build his own home.
He is survived by a brother, Kennneth Stevenson and his wife, Sandra of Hampden and a niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.
At his request there will be no services. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
