William Olsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 24, 2017.

Bill Olsen, 82, went to be with the Lord on Friday October 20, 2017 in Crowley, Texas.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Riley Funeral Home. Service will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton at 11 AM, followed by a burial at Pecan Wells Cemetery.

A loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and papa. Bill was born May 18, 1935 in Chicago Illinois but got to Texas as fast as he could. He was the first son of William & Lillian Olsen. Bill graduated from Waukegan High School in Illinois and attended the University of Wyoming.

Bill had a great love of animals: African cichlids fish, African antelope and exotic birds. He took a special interest in raising lories birds, breeding a wide variety, selling them all across the country to zoos and individuals. This lead to his dream vacation of taking an African camera safari in August 2007.

Bill was known for many things. Throughout his life he was full of insight & wisdom & was known as the Wise Old Owl. He was a God-fearing man & always eager to share the Lord's Word. Bill was an active Republican who led the Republican Tea Party in Hamilton. Bill was blessed with the ability to communicate with anyone and persuade most folks to see his way on many things. Bill never walked away when things got tough. He always stepped up to the plate, never scared to face the battle.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife Elizabeth Patricia (Pat); daughter Theresa; son Pike Allen; and grandson Little Rocky.

Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandy (Grandma); his younger brother Bruce; five daughters: Stacy and husband Bret, Jeanne and husband Kevin, Linda and husband Joe, Julie and husband Ken and Madeline and husband Timmy; one son Travis Ray (Rocky) and wife Diane; fifteen grandchildren: Elizabeth, Cydney, Nathan, Lance, Alexzandrea, Kathryn, Diane, Allison, Christopher, Melissa, Dinesa, Billy, Bart, Jamie and Michael; nine great-grandchildren: Kaden, Ryan (Ry-Ry), Brookelynn (Baby-B), Baylee, Rachel, Christopher, the newest addition Gavin, Savannahlynn (Tuffy), and Kimberlynn (Timberwolff). They completed his universe, along with many friends that loved him dearly.
