Edwin "Hippy" A. Begley Sr., 58, of Crystal Lake, passed away October 23, 2017 in his home. Born March 19, 1959 in Harvard; he was the son of Carl E. and Patricia K. (Kamin) Begley. He married Estelle Gordon in November of 1990.
A truck driver for many years, Ed was employed with Super Aggregates in McHenry. He was a member of Teamsters Local 301 and 200.
Hippy enjoyed bowling, fishing, model cars, outdoor theatre, watching wrestling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle "Cookie" Begley; mother, Patricia Begley; sons, Ed (Angela) Begley Jr. and John Henry (Amanda) Begley; step-daughter, Serenity McKinney; grandchildren, Camden, Sienna, and Isabell "Bella" Begley and Jade Anderson; brother, Roger (Jorjann) Begley; nieces, Cathy Jones, Nickie Begley and Cindy Jordan.
Ed was preceded in death by his father.
The family would like to give special thanks to Journey Care Hospice for the special care given to Ed.
Visitation 5 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. on November 11, 2017 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. Online condolences may be submitted at querhammerandflagg.com

I did not know "Hippy" much, other than seeing him at a local pizza pub, but he was always a fun guy to talk to and raise a pint with. Everyone just knew him as "Hippy".
He was what I would call a "cool cat". I am sorry for your loss. May God rest his soul.
