Kerry Jonathan Clark
1986-2017

Kerry Jonathan Clark, 30, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He fought a hard battle to overcome substance abuse addiction and depression.

Jon was born on October 26, 1986 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kerry Murray Clark and Laurie Maynard Clark. As a young boy Jon was vibrant, full of life and had an irresistible grin. He was a Cub Scout and enjoyed playing soccer. He loved adventure, exploring, and the outdoors. Jon attended Olympus High School and received his diploma in 2005 from Stillwater Academy. He held several jobs, but found satisfaction and good friends while bartending the last decade. He was proud of his ability to create different drinks to put on the menu.

While Jon struggled to conquer his addiction for many years, his life was not defined by it. Jon was a kind, funny, and generous man who loved his family, friends, animals, and especially his nieces. He loved to travel, meet new people, skateboard, and snowboard. Jon loved music and liked to write lyrics and poetry. He had a big personality and aspired to be a stand-up comedian.

Jon is preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Emma Jean Maynard, Sharon and Joyce Clark, and uncles Robert Maynard and Timothy Clark. He is survived by his mother Laurie Clark, father Kerry Clark (Tonyia), sister Jessica Palmer (Robert), and brothers Robert Clark and David Clark.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a viewing at Wasatch Lawn Memorial (3401 S. Highland Dr.) on October 27, 2017 between the hours of 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be October 28, 2017 at the LDS Meetinghouse located at 1361 E. 4000 S. in Salt Lake City, Utah. At 11:00 AM. The viewing will be held just before from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM. I met Jon at Stein back in 2010, I was a barback and worked mainly with him at the bar. He was a very kind, funny and generous guy. At all times he made me feel comfortable and we always shared a laugh. My condolences to the Clark family.

JC was an outstanding person. He was so kind hearted and generous. You don't meet a lot of people like him. He was always one to make others laugh even if he was feeling down. It takes a special person to be able to block out the negative emotions they are going through to help others get through their day. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Always in my prayers. Much love brother.

Dear Laurie, Kerry, Tonyia and the whole Clark Family: Bonnie and I were so saddened to hear of the passing Jon. Bonnie and I had the chance to meet him and visit with him on a SelectHealth Broker Advisory trip. Bonnie and Jon had a very good conversation and became friends quickly. We send our sincere condolences, sympathy and love to you all. It is our belief and faith in a Loving and Knowingly Father In Heaven and in His Son, that gives us reassurances of a grand reunion someday with our loved ones. May his peace and comfort that only He can give be with you now and always.
With Prayers and love,
Luke & Bonnie McDermott

I only met Jon a couple of years ago, but working with him behind my first bar in Aspen is time I will never forget. He had such a way with people and he always knew how to make monotonous work seem fun. I will miss him dearly. My deepest condolences to his family and the ones he loved the most.

Jon was one of my best friends in the world, I knew him for 24 of the 30 years I have been alive. He was one of the kindest, generous and funniest individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing. My thoughts and prayers are with Laurie, Kerry, Jessica, Robert and David, I am so sorry for your loss. I loved your son and always will, Jon and I had some great times and some not so great times. I simply don't have the words to describe how sad this makes me and how much love I felt for and from Jon, Here is to you Jonny boy, see you on the otherside my dearest friend.

Sincerely,
Trevor Sloan
