Virginia (Fisher) Elliot, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 27, 2017. She was born on June 4, 1931 in Detroit, MI to Glen and Margaret (O’Donnell) Fisher. Virginia was a graduate of Decatur High School and the University of Illinois where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. After a brief career as a Home Economics teacher, Virginia was employed for many years by the Social Security Administration. She married Jim Elliot on April 30, 1960.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, and three children: Patty Stewart (Paul) of Louisville, KY, Carolyn Lewis (Rod) of Santa Clara, CA and Tom Elliot (Ellen) of Aurora, IL. Virginia leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Tyler, Matthew, and Abigail Stewart and Tim, Ryan, and Sean Elliot. Virginia’s sister, Mary Lou Reisch (Ed) of Madison, WI also survives. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Fisher who died in 2003.
Virginia loved many things: reading mystery novels, bridge groups, garden club, knitting, her Irish heritage, holidays entertaining family, travel, Red Hats Club and numerous good friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6th. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church prior to Mass. Father Thomas Taylor officiate. A private interment will be held at the family plot in Champaign, IL Tuesday, November 7th.
