Roy was the football coach at Piedmont High School. Every morning he,Mr. Brinkoetter and I had coffee together. Our birthdays were a week apart and so we called each other on our birthdays for all the years since he left Piedmont. Many fond memories. He was a sweetheart of a fella. Phyllis (Robbins) Holmes

It was an honor working with Mr Howell at Choctaw Jr High. He knew his students and encouraged them to be their best. For his teachers, he did the same:a balance of
honest encouragement and constructive
correction. Roy Howell led by example.
May God bless his family.
Sincerely,
C.J. Powell

Mr. Howell was the principal for both my kids at Choctaw Junior High. He was dedicated, kind, tough, and thoughtful. I was honored to serve on his "parent's committee" for 6 years. He was truly an educator who cared about his students. Rest in Peace, Mr. Howell.

Roy was the most kindhearted and humble man I've ever met. He was always putting others before himself and would never ask for anything in return. I am honored and blessed to have been able to call him my papa. Forever loved and missed.

I worked with Mr. Howell (I never called him anything else) for 11 years at Ferris High School. He carried himself with dignity and class, but wouldn't hesitate to pull a prank or joke with you. He always encouraged me to pursue my master's degree. He praised me when he thought I deserved it, and he let me know when I had messed up, but always in a constructive way. He had a way with students, and they all respected him. Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers.
