Marvin Lynn Steele, 90, of Stuarts Draft went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Augusta Health.

Born July 16, 1927 in Botetourt County, VA he was the son of the late William Harper and Lottie Fitzgerald Steele Campbell. Marvin married the love of his life, Betty Hodges Steele on September 5, 1953.

Marvin was a 1945 graduate of Eagle Rock High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Hollister of Stuarts Draft where he worked as a security guard. He was a charter member of Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad and a member of the Stuarts Draft Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years. Marvin was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. Those who knew him will remember him as a family man who loved spending time with his family and an avid hunter of raccoon, bear and deer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Steele Camper of Roanoke and Marie Steele Agnor of Eagle Rock.

Survivors include his loving wife, caregiver and companion of 64 years, Betty Hodges Steele; daughter, Linda Steele Almarode and husband, Kenny of Waynesboro; son, W. Lynn Steele and wife, Toni of New Hope; three granddaughters, Janice Almarode Searwar and husband, Simeon of Lynchburg, Stephanie Almarode Berry and husband, Chad of Lyndhurst and Melissa Steele Burwell and husband, Scott of Waynesboro; 12 great grandchildren and one soon to be born great grandchild; a host of loving nieces and nephews; special friend, Bob Simmons.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, 519 Shiloh Road, Eagle Rock, with the Rev. Dr. William Kopp officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
