Our father Richard Benjamin Holfus, joined our mother Beverly Ann Holfus and the Lord on November 1, 2017. Richard was born August 23, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the middle child to Benjamin and Marjorie Holfus. He is preceded in death by his brother Robert, and is survived by his younger sister Sally Nichol.
Richard attended Laingsburg High School and graduated in 1953. Richard married his grade school sweetheart, and love of his life, Beverly on September 24, 1955. They spent 58 happy years together and are survived by four children: Ken Holfus, Keith Holfus and his wife Christine, Kathy Smith and her husband David, and Kelli Sosa and her husband Javier. He has seven grandchildren: Andrew Holfus and his wife Stephanie, Casey, Dylan, and Corinna Holfus; Ciara Rubenstein and her husband Blake, Cassie Sosa, and Haleigh Smith. He was blessed to have four great-grandchildren: Lyndon and Lincoln Holfus, and Harper and Elliott Rubenstein.
Richard started his K-Mart career at SS Kresge in 1956 and retired in 1991 after dedicating 35 hard working years to the company. After retiring Richard worked part time at a local hardware store in the Austin area. He also enjoyed golfing weekly with his friends and participating in golf tournaments with his sons and grandson. Richard always enjoyed gathering the family for holidays and special occasions.
Richard lived in Sun City, Texas. He was a member of The Worship Place where he participated in weekly bible study and made many friends whom he cherished.
He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at The Worship Place, Sun City, Texas at 10:00 a.m.
