Fonnie Ruth Hanson Carter

Fonnie Carter, age 87, passed away at Sunrise Assisted Living Nov. 1, 2017. She was born May 24, 1930 in Shelley, Idaho to Melvin and Lillian Hanson. Fonnie grew up helping on the farm. She attended Utah State University where she met her husband Grove Carter. They were married on Aug. 11, 1950 in the Logan Utah Temple. They received their degrees together from Utah State University, Fonnie in Home Economics Education and Grove in Psychology.
Fonnie was happiest being a homemaker and raising her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was best known for her service at home, church, and neighborhood. Her service was a way she expressed love and concern for others. Fonnie enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlework, and cooking. We have been abundantly blessed by the fruits of her labors over the years. We are inspired by her diligence in enduring to the end.
Survived by daughter Nadine (Dave) Macbeth, sons Duane (Bonnie) Carter, Rodney (Valynn) Carter and Darrel (Loa)Carter and son-in-laws Doug Prescott and Bill Tolley; 14 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Alva Lu Hebdon, Pearl Johnson, and brother Keith (Reva) Hanson. Preceded in death by husband Grove, daughters Fonnie Prescott and Janet Tolley.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Nov. 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilford Ward, 3179 Highland Dr, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Fri. Nov. 10 6-8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr and at the church Sat. from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
