Charles STEWART Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2017.

Charles E. Stewart was born January 27, 1957 to William Paul Stewart, Jr. & Nancy (Gault) Stewart. He lost his battle with lung cancer on November 5, 2017 at the young age of 60.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Gary, IN in 1975. After high school, he attended Indiana State University on a music scholarship. He left school in 1977 to join the US Navy. He served two tours. He served from 1977-81. Then he re-enlisted from 1982-86. He enjoyed his service time to the point he always had a story to share about those days.

He enjoyed being outdoors and seeing the country. He was a professional driver for many years. He drove cabs in California, transported medical samples for laboratories in Minnesota, big rig trucks in Mississippi and city buses in Arizona. He loved the control and freedom he had behind the wheel. He received numerous safety awards from every company he drove with.

He married his wife Donna on May 23, 1991. They shared a wonderful life together as husband and wife. He was a family man that was driven to provide for everyone. They raised their children, Miesha & Charmaine Stewart and his step-children, Jherheena Herbert & Timothy Reed. He also helped raise nieces and nephews, Antonio Reed, Myra Reed, Raymond Reed and Sharita (Kendrick) Claiborn. They were affectionately known as his "Wrecking Crew."

He was preceded in death by his father and a step-daughter, Asinith Reed. He left to cherish his memory, a loving wife Donna Stewart; Daughters, Miesha Stewart & Charmaine Stewart; Step-Daughter Jherheena Herbert; Step-Son, Timothy Reed. He also left to cherish his memory, Mother, Nancy Miller; Sister, Debra (David) Adegbenro; Brothers, William (Joenice) Stewart, III, Michael (Darnise) Stewart and Walter Stewart. Mother-In-Law, Dorothy Turner; Sister-In-Laws, Sabrina Reed & Larita (Marvin) Wilkins; Brother-In-Laws, Richard (Celia) Reed, Ronald (Alma) Reed, Lawrence Turner & Raymond (Priya) Turner.

He was able to share the joys of being a grandparent to five beautiful grandchildren Jhermond Bell, Rayonna Bell, Zyquon Bunton, Reginae' Butler & Rochelle Butler. He leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He cherished two very special aunts, Paternal Aunt Blenda Black and Maternal Aunt Loretta Gault.

CIRCLE OF OUR LIFE
You entered my world when I was young and my life was upside down.
You made me believe everything would work out and all I did was frown.
You rescued me from my place of torture and made my world great.
Even though you took your time you were never late.
When times got hard and our outlook seemed bleak,
You were always there to make me strong and not appear weak.
We shared a life that was built on a love that couldn't be broken by hate.
And even though we never knew, you really were my soulmate.
I honored our marriage until we parted in death.
I will carry you in my heart until my last breath.
I will always remember you lovingly at my side.
Rest on babe you had a long hard ride.
I won't say goodbye, only good night.
Thank you for even in death you made everything alright.
Rest on my love until we meet at Heaven's gate.
God's got a plan that will be revealed and I can hardly wait!

Good night my love
