Duncan Chapin Merriman
1931 -- 2017
Merriman, Duncan Chapin, age 87, of Tiverton, Rhode Island passed on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was the husband of Wendy Hill Merriman.
Mr. Merriman was the son of the late Harold and Jeannette (Sherer) Merriman. He attended Brooks School and was a graduate of Trinity College, class of 1949.
Early on he was employed by Fleet National Bank as a trust officer. He retired in 1986 from the Hospital Trust Investment Department in Providence, RI.
Dunc loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing and boating. He especially looked forward to participating in the traditional corn pudding event with his family.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children Katherine Humphrey, Jeannette Brash, Edward Merriman, the late Daniel Merriman, and grandchildren Katie, Ryan, Todd, Will, Sam, Andrew, Molly, George and Jasper.
Arrangements are under the direction of Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home. The family will hold a service of celebration in July.

I was saddened to hear of Dunc's passing. How vividly I remember his cheerful conversation when we were neighbors in Rehoboth. Strangely I remember the chickens and the exchange of eggs for my little bantams to set on his large chickens' eggs. Foolish, but an endearing memory.
I wish you all well as you head into a place of quiet.
