Sarah Esther Kohn, of Atlanta, died on November 7, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gunther (Gus) Kohn, her son, David Kohn, and her mother, Justa Vega. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Beverly Johnson of Atlanta, two grandchildren, Isabelle Johnson and Wyatt Johnson of Atlanta, and her brother, Julio Villanova (Julia) of Middletown, NY. Sarah was known for her outgoing personality and giving spirit. After retiring in 1999, Sarah took care of her husband, Gunther, who had Parkinson’s disease, until his death in 2008. Following his death, Sarah continued taking care of others by volunteering at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA, where she was active in the St. Vincent de Paul ministry, Flower ministry, parish mission trips and bible studies. Being a long time breast cancer survivor, Sarah volunteered for many years at Georgia Cancer Specialists at Northside Hospital assisting patients receiving treatment. She also enjoyed traveling, walking, gardening, reading and spending time with her friends and her grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at H. M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill, Brookhaven, GA. Funeral Mass to be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, Dunwoody, GA. Committal Service to follow at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, GA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to All Saints Catholic Church, Dunwoody, GA.

Sarah was a very good friend. I always felt so welcome when I visited her and Gus. She was a great roommate for my mom on our trip to Rome a few years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this difficult time.
