Carlene Ruth Westebbe took her final breath at 4:30 am, November 8, 2017, with her family by her side. She wrestled with cancer for 18 long months, and showed us the way. She lived each day fully; funny, strong, loving and true - a mother and elder daughter of the Deel clan. She is survived by her children, Rayna, C'aira, Mark II, Mathew and John; grandson, Todd; husband, Mark and 'adopted' son, Josh; sisters, Wanda and Dianne; brothers, Ray, Bill, Barry and Scott of Northern Virginia; Aunt Laurie and her children of Southwest Virginia- Lee, Curtis, Debbie and Barb; a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Deel; her brother, Ronnie Deel and her cousins, Jane and Mike. A light has gone from our eyes, but continues to burn in our hearts. We are grateful for the many prayers and kindnesses we have received and will honor her request to remember her personally and privately. There are no services planned.

I am very sorry for your lost. I cant imagine how heartbreaking it is to lose a loved one for you, but its uplifting to know that God promises us in Isaiah 65:17 a near future in which not only we wont feel this pain in our hearts when we lose a loved one, but we wont even remember how it felt.*

Carlene, Thanks Be to God. Your outreach to me via FB was a Godsend & how grateful I am for the brief journey we traveled together. You gave me faith when I thought I had lost all hope. Peace be with you. Lovingly, Sharon

Oh, how I miss you. You always have had that infectious laugh (that still lingers in my ears) and that fun, loving spirit (that I hold in my heart). You became a special part of my life, teaching me what it is like to be gutsy, how not to take flack, how to be spontaneous, ad how to laugh until our stomachs hurt. A little whine/wine never hurt. You will always have a piece of my heart. My vision of you bouncing out the door with that pony tail swinging is one I will remember always. I always hated to see you go then....

This is my Mom. She is my powerhouse, my superstar, the one I run to. We do not have her here, but we have her laughs, humor, smiles, big hearts, and hellraising fun times. Her stories and legacy will definetly be talked about and remembered always. Her heart was as deep as the ocean.

I met Carlene through her daughter C'aira and every interaction I had with her she was smiling & joyful! What a presence she had & impression her smile made on everyone! She truly was lit from within & she has passed that light & warmth onto her children. I am praying for each of you, that you will be comforted by memories of her & God's Amazing Grace! The love she left with you all is eternal & I hope that it fills you with peace. May God bless each of you as you all have blessed us with your witness.

I thought of you today, but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too.
I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.
All I have are memories and a picture in a frame.
Your memory's a keepsake from which I'll never part,
God has you in his arms, I have you in my heart.
I love you Mom
