Samuel P. Guge Sr, 88, of Caseyville, Illinois, born October 20, 1929 in East Prairie, Missouri, passed away, Monday, November 13, 2017 with his family by his side.
Sam possessed a dedicated persona and was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and friend. He married his wife on July 15, 1969, Sandra Crossland. Sam worked as a millwright foremen at the Granite City Steel Mill for almost 40 years until his retirement. He belonged to the Shriners Masonic Association and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Sam also enjoyed watching the St Louis Cardinals play baseball, riding his tractor in his yard, being a member of the American Motorcycle Association and he also loved animals. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Guge; his parents, O. Bernard Guge and Susie Vinson and his siblings; Osa Guge, Lucy Boyer and Nora Lee Holcomb.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra Guge; his children, Samuel P. Guge Jr., Karen Ballard and Lucy Guge; his grandchildren, Michael Ballard, Pam (Michael) Chapman and Monica (Brian) Thacker; 7 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way and a number of dear relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends and family may visit from 12:00 pm until 2:00pm, Friday, November 17, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208
Funeral Service: Funeral Services will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00pm. Interment to take place in Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

My Uncle Sam was always good to me when i stayed with him and Aunt Sandy, between my 8th grade and Freshman yr. of high school. I hadnt seen him for many years but i always have held a high regard for him and loved my time in their home. R. I. P. Uncle Sam. You will be missed, until we meet again.
