Walter Clarence Carter Sr., 76, of Castle Hayne passed away peacefully at home Monday Nov. 13, 2017. Walter was born Oct. 11, 1941 son of the late Clyde Clarence Carter and the late Octavia Mae Crumpler.
Walter was a well-known electrician in the community. He started East Coast Electrical Company in 1976. Walter and his son Walter Jr. worked side by side for 37 years.
Walter loved to spend his vacations in the mountains with his family and friends. He was a true NASCAR Racing fan and he also loved going on fishing trips with his friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Carter and his sister Joanna Vernon.
Walter is survived by his wife of 57 years Joanna Sebrell Carter. Daughter Teresa Marshburn (Bryan), son Walter Carter, Jr. (Karen), granddaughter Alysha Carroll and Grandson Aaron Harts, 3 step grandchildren Melanie, Joshua, and Sarah Mooseman, and 12 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Friday Nov. 17, 2017 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Services from 11am to 12pm. The Funeral Service will take place at 12pm with Rev. Jerry Green officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The pallbearers will be Allen Williams, Lee Cavenaugh, Billy Sebrell, Gill Rodriguez, Ron Stoner, and Butch Beaudry with honorary pallbearers Lynn Hyatt and Bryan Marshburn.
A special thanks to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and all of his doctors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

WC was always like a dad to us all. Being raised nex to such a kind man was a blessing. Going to miss playing poker when we visit and seeing his smiling face. Praying for Ann Teresa and Walter as they try to move forward during this hard time.
