June D. Proffitt, 80 of Charleston, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday November 20, 2017 after an extended illness.
She was retired from Kanawha County Schools as a cook. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church on Greenbrier St. where she provided nursery care. She always loved those little babies.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (Roger) Tolley and grandsons Jason Tolley, Brian Tolley, and Cameron Walker; brothers Henry Rucker, Charles Rucker, and Delford Rucker; sisters, Emma (Ivan) Taylor, Phyllis Clay, Ruth Bowles, Willa Martin, Judy Swadley, and Carolyn Hensley. There is a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Proffitt; daughter Julie Walker, and her parents William and Estelle (Leach) Rucker. She is also proceeded in death by her sisters Kathleen Blevins and Norma Taylor; and brothers James Rucker, David Rucker, and George Rucker.
The family would like to thank her sister Phyllis Clay for the great care that she gave to our mother and grandmother during her days in hospice care. We would also like to thank the hospice workers that came to the home to take care of her, Kelly, Agnes, Connie, Amanda, Deanna, Sharon, Monica, and Amber, along with the nurses and doctor at the Hubbard House during her weeks that she was there.
In lieu of flowers the family would like for you to make donations to the Charleston Hubbard House.
Services will be Friday, November 24th, 2017 at Noon with visitation from 11:00am until service time at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, WV 25313.
