Betty Harmon Wood, 79, of Rustburg passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Guggenheimer Nursing Home. She was the wife of 62 years to Ronald Eugene Wood. Born October 26, 1938, in Pamplin, she was the daughter of the late William Earl Harmon and the late Loveline Jamerson Harmon.
Betty was a homemaker and a member of New Chapel Baptist Church. She loved to do knitting and go camping. Betty also loved to do babysitting, and did for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by four siblings, Nancy Martin, Jean Mann, June Louge and Becky Marchburn.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by five children, Debbie Wood of Lynchburg, Linda W. Reynolds (R.C.) of Lynchburg, Cindy Knox (Bobby) of Madison Heights, Ronnie Wood, Jr. (Annette) of Lynchburg and Timmy W. Wood (Janet) of Rustburg; one sister, Doris McCraw of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Eric Tomlin, Anthony Reynolds, Justin Knox, Holly Reynolds and Hailee Wood; two great grandchildren, Austin Knight and Scarlett Robertson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Sandy Brewer of Rustburg.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 26, 2017, at New Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Dooley and the Rev. Earl F. Clarkson, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
The family would like to express a special thank you the Centra Hospice nurses for their loving care towards Betty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

I am so sorry for the loss of your wife Mr Wood, and your mom,my good friend Jr., Tim,Debbie,Linda,Cindy and grand babies etc.although I never met your mom I have heard how much she loved babysitting, even after raising all of you lol.She is up there holding a little one in her arms and chasing after another or two.
