Betty Torsrud, 92, formerly of Loves Park, IL. died at Liberty Village in Freeport after a long illness of Alzheimers on November 20, 2017. Betty was born in St. Paul, MN. On March 26, 1925 to Jim and Dorothy Sorensen. In 1946 she married Harold Torsrud in Minnesota and in 1951, they moved to the Loves Park area when Harold bought Sorensen Janitor Service. In 1971 they opened a janitor supply store, Sorensen Building Supply and Betty worked alongside Harold. They were active members of Grace Lutheran Church in Loves Park. Harold and Betty enjoyed traveling and after retirement spent winters in Texas until Harold's death in 1993.
Survivors: daughters, Gail (Craig) Peterson, Linda (Jim) Lau, Susan Mitchell, Shelly (Mark) Martin; grandchildren, Eric (Tami) Peterson, Amy (Tim) Bukoski, Andrea (Heath) McGrew, Heather (Dennis) Buck, Rich Lau, Clinton Mitchell, Kyle Johnson, Ian Martin, Jordan Martin; great grandchildren, Taylor, Carter, Jacob, Mackenzie, Elaine, Paige, Parker, Peyton, Kyle, Jeremias, Cameron, Charlie; sisters-in-laws and brother-in-law, Marion and Fern Olson, Donna (Les) Torsrud; many nieces and nephews. Preceded by parents; husband Harold; son, Thomas Torsrud; infant daughter, Lori; brother, Jim (Ruth) Sorensen.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27 at Grace Lutheran Church 343 Grand Ave. Loves Park, IL. Visitation: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial Sunset Memorial Gardens. Condolences www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com
