Frederick Sundt Bartlett, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Sunday November 26, 2017 at the age of 59. Fred was born in Tucson to parents John F. Bartlett and Marijohn Sundt on June 18,1958. Fred grew up in Tucson as the third of five children and attended Sabino High School and Pima Community College.
Fred was a longtime member (1979-2014) of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 428 and Local 12. During his career as an operator, Fred worked on many projects in both AZ and CA including the All-American Canal (an 80-mile aqueduct in SE CA that conveys water from the Colorado River into Imperial Valley and to nine cities) and Diamond Valley Lake, one of the largest reservoirs in Southern CA.
In 1983 he met Mariza Bartlett (Chon) and they were married in 1985. He raised Mariza's daughter, Jennifer, as his own. Fred and Mariza later had two sons, Adam and Scott. Fred enjoyed outdoor activities such as landscaping, fishing at the White Mountains, and riding motorcycles. He shared his love of motorsports and music with his children. He had a song in mind for every situation and if you knew him well you were probably a recipient of a serenade. He will always be remembered for his laughter, playful spirit, and his love of life.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Davis (husband Donny Davis), grand-daughter Savea Davis, son Adam Bartlett (wife Paula Bartlett), son Scott Bartlett (girlfriend Lauren Sickles), brother Kenny Bartlett, and sister Mari Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his father, John Bartlett; mother Marijohn Sundt; brother Sid Bartlett; and sister Jan Rogers (Bartlett).
A memorial service for family and friends will take place at Tohono Chul Park in Tucson, AZ on Saturday December 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the local NA fellowship (natucson.org).
