Eldon Hooper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 29, 2017.

GRAND PRAIRIE--A family man loved by friends and neighbors, Eldon Eugene Hooper, passed away at home on Saturday night, November 25, 2017.

VISITATION: 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie.

The youngest of 14 children, Eldon was born in Waurika, OK. to Arch and Maggie. His 94 year old brother, Odell, a decorated WW II POW, lives in Duncan, OK.

Loyal and dependable, Eldon worked at Vought Aerospace (LTV), now known as Triumph, for 39 years. Bill used to call Eldon her "Rock of Gibraltar." Anyone who knew him would agree. His legacy of kindness and generosity, passing on hard-earned knowledge to others, AND knowing how to have a good time, will live on forever through his girls, sons-in-law, grandson, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Billie Jean McKamie-Hooper and Melinda's twin, Melissa Jean Hooper.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Jean Hooper-Grassley and Melinda Madden, sons-in-law, Bret Grassley and John "Bart" Madden and 6 year old grandson Zachary Levi Madden.

Melinda, Teresa, Bart and Zak,
Your dad was an amazing person and always so happy, sweet and loving. He passed down his kindness and wonderful traits to you all. He will be greatly missed. I know you all will cherish the lifelong memories and family traditions. I remember the times he enjoyed playing poker, watching football or going on trips... wonderful memories. He is at peace in Heaven now. May God bring you peace and love and comfort at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and friends.

Eldon (Poppie) was so awesome and sweet. I will deeply miss playing poker with Eldon and all the family/friend gatherings we had. Thank you for letting me and Collin be apart of his life. I will miss our conversations, singing in the garage, and talking about football. He loved you all so much. And I know how special it was for you to be with him on his final day.He is at peach now. To my sweet, sweet Daddy. You were the best daddy any child could ever ask for and you will always be remembered for your kind and gentle personality, the hard worker you were to provide for your entire family and such an incredibly devoted father. Thank you for giving us a magical childhood that we will eternally be grateful for and will continue to share such fond memories with friends. We are so blessed that we were able to have you in our lives for almost 89 years and that you were in your own home with us while peacefully taking your final breathe. May you rest in peace. I love you to the moon and back. Melinda
