Michael "Christopher" Vecellio passed away on November 24, 2017. Chris was born on February 19, 1967 in Ft. Rucker, Alabama to Michael and Patricia (Gibbs) Vecellio. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, TX and went on to Stephen F. Austin University to graduate with a Business Administration degree.
Growing up along the Gulf Coast, Chris had a deep love of the bay and spent much of his childhood fishing, sailing out of Houston Yacht Club and exploring the coast. His commitment to the bay inspired his career in marine transportation with Kirby Marine, Higman Marine & Martin Marine.
He also loved his mountain bike, camping & being in the woods. He was valued crew on his parent's sailboat, Annuity, racing for years on the bay. He was a talented cook & loved feeding everyone with his barbequed meats from his backyard smoker. He enjoyed sharing his love of nature with Amanda & Virginia – collecting specimens wherever they went. As a child, he had a pet crayfish which lived in his mother's kitchen for quite awhile as well as many aquariums full of fish.
Chris is survived by his loving daughters, Amanda and Virginia Vecellio and their mother, Jenna Salzman Vecellio, his devoted parents Michael and Patricia Vecellio and brother Andrew, wife Heather and nephews Drew and Oliver and niece Rose.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Earthman Funeral Home, Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Visitation will begin at 10 AM followed by a service at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galveston Bay Foundation, 1100 Hercules Ave, Suite 200, Houston, TX 77058 or online at galvbay.org.

Bill and I are saddened to learn of Chris passing . We have such fond memories of him growing up at HYC. He and Jason loved racing the electric cars in the parking lot,, always under the watchful eyes of Captain Carr. Chris was such a sweet and kind person. He will be missed.
Mike, Pat and family our hearts break for your loss.
