Kelsey Nicole (Baska) Hypes, 28, of Waynesboro was called home on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
She was born in Waynesboro on July 6, 1989.
Kelsey was a 2007 graduate of Stuarts Draft High School and Valley Career and Technical Center. She joined the Bream Family Dental Care team in March of 2014, where she worked as a dental assistant. Kelsey had a heart for animals. She was an avid reader and coffee drinker. Kelsey greatly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family cheering on her brother-in-law's race team. Kelsey, better known as "Honey" by her husband, was a devoted wife and mother; Cameron and Sawyer were her heart and soul. She had a positive outlook and zest for life that was most admirable, even contagious some would say. Her smile for everyone was highly regarded by all who met her and she had a laugh that was contagious. Kelsey will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Kelsey carried her unborn child with her into the gates of Heaven. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Fortney and her paternal grandfather, Ernie Baska.
In addition to her husband and son left to cherish her memory are her parents, Kim and Greg Baska; siblings, Jaime Marshall and husband, Jeremiah, Jonathan Baska and wife, Katie and Josh Baska and wife, Kati ; paternal grandparents, Alice Baska and Janette Fortney; maternal grandparents, Gene and Faye Wallace; parents-in-law, Jo Anne and Tim Lam and Stan and Debbie Hypes; brother-in-law, Eric Hypes and wife, Lindsey; special friends, Kristen "Sis" Ritchie and Chelle Fitzgerald; as well as numerous nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Kelsey also leaves behind her four-legged friend, Archer.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Goose Creek Rd, Fishersville, with Pastor David Chappell officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Baska, Josh Baska, Jeremiah Marshall, Eric Hypes, Dexter Ritchie, Jeff Wallace, and Charlie Fitzgerald.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Kelsey's memory to the University of Virginia Children's Hospital, or a child's book maybe brought to the funeral home for donation.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Augusta Health and the University of Virginia Medical Center, all the fire and rescue agencies, the Augusta County Sheriffs, the helpful people that were there during the accident, the Marshall family, Sharon and Bucky Fitzgerald and everyone who has reached out to the family to express their love and prayers.
