Nancy S. Parker, 87 of Amherst, widow of Lee Roy Parker, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her residence.

She was born in Amherst County on January 24, 1930, daughter of the late Russell E. Staton and the late Nannie Adams Staton.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Faye S. Edwards; three brothers, Russell "Buddy" Staton, Thornton "Billy" Staton and R. Lewis Staton.

Nancy was retired from Imperial Reading and was a member of Amherst Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, and her family meant everything to her.

Survivors include one son, Michael L. Parker (Lora); three daughters, Brenda Goodwin-Garrett (John), Jennifer P. Goff (David), Holly P. Ross (Berk); grandchildren, Tracy C. Parker (Tim), Alissa G. Keyes, Chad Ross (Jessica), Ian M. Parker (Jessica), Megan F. Tyree; great grandchildren, Timmy Tyree, Landon Ross, Jaelyn Ross, Sydni Ross, Laney Ross, and Jaylee Prosser, Hunter Tolitol. She is also survived by a special niece, Nancy Winston as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Bill Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home
