Dorothy Judd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 4, 2017.

Dorothy Jo Williams Judd was born on March 28, 1933 on a farm outside the rural New Hope community near Anson, Texas to Ernest J. and Rilla Margaret Williams. She was the middle child who helped her Daddy pick cotton on the family farm until the dust bowl forced the Williams to relocate to nearby Abilene and give up farming. After completing high school, Dorothy began a modeling career along with her younger sister Maggie and the sisters lived in San Francisco, CA and Palm Beach, FL working as advertising, fashion, and runway models. Moving to Dallas in the 1950s, Dorothy worked as a systems specialist for National Cash Register for several years before meeting and marrying her husband of 57 years, Wendell W. Judd. Dorothy passed away peacefully in the morning hours of December 3rd at the house in Dallas where she'd lived since 1971. Known to her friends as Dottie, she is survived by her spouse Wendell, son Michael Gregory Judd, son-in-law Cliff Clements and spouse Kim Clements, and five grandchildren --- Meghan, Mackenzie, Trent, Madeleine, and Brett. Dorothy was preceding in death by daughter Stephanie Judd Clements who passed on May 14, 2002. Dottie was a Dallas resident for over 60 years and spent more recent years as a homemaker and was active in various community and neighborhood organizations. A talented artist, she enjoyed oil painting, water colors, pastel sketches and wrote and published her own poetry. Dorothy was also active in her church and was a founding member of the Dallas Prayer Ministry which was one of the first telephone-based prayer chains of its type in North Texas. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday December 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer Bible Church, 721 Easton Road, Dallas, 75218 followed by a graveside ceremony and interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, 75225. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved daughter Stephanie and infant grandson Dylan Clements. The family covets your prayers and expressions of love and support at Dorothy's home going.

Dottie, Diane, and I prayed together weekly for over 30 years in various places and venues including lastly on conference calls. We were active in the Dallas Association for Decency, attending and silently praying during court cases.
I loved Dottie and looked up to her as an intercessor, and the "Strand of Three" will sadly be a strand of 2 now. But we 3 often talked of enjoying Jesus and heaven and having assignments there together for eternity!

Dottie was the epitome of elegance and grace. She was so kind to me as the wife of a new partner over 20 years ago. She never failed to make sure I knew she cared about and was interested in me and my family.
She and Wendell were excellent examples of a true partnership and were devoted to each other and to their family. May light perpetual shine on this sweet friend.

Dottie exemplified the biblical example of what it means to be a good neighbor and for this, her friendship and love - we have been blessed. He knew what He was doing when He placed us next to the Judd's as Dottie's prayers for our family have been felt time and time again.

God's garden must be beautiful for he only takes the best.

Our thoughts and love are with you all. XO
