A Memorial Service for Clifton Carter Gerhardt, 76, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Irmo. Burial will follow at noon in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with Military Honors. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo is assisting the family.
Mr. Gerhardt passed away Friday, December 8, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late George Belsterling and Dorothy Mary Bruno Gerhardt Belsterling. He was the husband of the late Victoria Fuhr Gerhardt. Clifton was a retiree of the United States Air Force where he proudly served as a Technical Sergeant. Following his USAF retirement, Clifton worked and retired from the Department of Corrections. He loved entertaining where he was a member of "Clowning Around." He was a member of First Baptist Church of Irmo.
Surviving are his daughters, Victoria Donohue (Kevin), Deborah Taggart (Bill); grandchildren, Tori, Ryan, Zach, Nick, Kevin, Katie, and Karissa. He is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Rasiul, Carol Burke, Sharon Kolb, and Joanne McCoy. He is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Gerhardt.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 6437 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
