Joseph Haywood Prejean, a very generous, loving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed from this life Saturday December 9, 2017. Haywood entered this world February 6, 1923 to Julia Hernandez Prejean and Joseph Clovis Prejean in Port Neches, Texas. He was 94 years of age.
He devoted his life to his wife and family and valued his religion, always living his faith and trust in God. So strong was he in that devotion, his staunch Baptist wife converted to the Catholic faith. He especially enjoyed trips and outings with his children, grandchildren and extended family.
Life dealt him some very tough hardships; crippling polio as a small child and equally cruel dementia the last 15 years of life. These he handled with the utmost class and determination. Never did he utter a single complaint or even a "what if". Never did it interfere with a joyous, complete, and fulfilling life.
Haywood was preceded in death by his wife Melba, happily married over 69 years.
He is survived by his children: son James C. Prejean, daughter A'Laine Harrison Grothe, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
