Bruce McClure White, 89, of Tucson, passed away December 7, 2017. He was born in Wichita, KS February 27, 1928.
He graduated Wichita HS East and attended Kansas State College. Enlisted US Marines 1946 and trained with the Marine Air Casual Squadron 1, doing aircraft radio maintenance and earning the merit of Expert Rifleman as an aircraft gunner. He was married to Susan Nimmo, his late wife of 61 years on New Year's Eve 1955.
Worked Electronics Systems Engineer at Boeing Aircraft in both Wichita and Seattle before migrating to Tucson, AZ to finish his career as a Test Engineer for 29 years at Hughes Aircraft. Bruce always had a passion for cars, and embraced restoring and driving Classic Cars when he retired in 1983. His favorite, his 1942 cad Fleetwood limo.
He was a long-time member of the Thunderbird and Cadillac clubs, winning numerous awards at Car Shows. Over the years, he attended Palo Verde, Emmanuel and El Camino Baptist churches and sang in the choir into his Eighties.
Survived by son, Steven and wife Kristie White, along with grandchildren Kaleb, Kyle and Samantha; daughter Sandra and husband John Holmes, along with grandchildren Jeremy and Andrea. Also one great-grandchild due in February 2018, the month he would have turned 90.
A Celebration of Life, El Camino Baptist Church, 7770 E. Speedway Blvd., Sunday, January 7 at 2:00 PM. The family accepting donations to Tucson Gospel Rescue Mission, in memory of Bruce.
