Colan “Doug or Red” Douglas Lilly, 75, Cross Lanes, formerly of Nitro, passed away December 11, 2017 in CAMC Memorial after a long illness.
Doug was a retired auto mechanic of several Dealerships in the Charleston region. He also retired from Stanley Steamer. Doug served in the Army Reserve, and was a proud member of the NRA. Doug played banjo, guitar, and mandolin enjoying his bluegrass music with his family. He especially loved spending time with his brothers and nephews at camp hunting.
Preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; parents, Cary Judson and Esta Alice Harrison Lilly; brothers, James, Ray, Marlin, Joe; nephew, David; brother-in-law, Frank Vannater.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Ronda Bowling (Larry) of Cross Lanes, Emma Fowler of Dunbar, Lisa Raynes-Estep of Roanoke, Virginia; brothers, Aubrey and Frank Lilly both of Charleston, and Orville Lilly of Sissonville; sisters, Lenora Vannater of Florida Keys, Joretta Bailes (David) of Sissonville, Luretta Evans of Charleston, Eleanor Nichols (Paul) of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Matthew and Miranda Bowling, Savannah and Megan Estep; his beloved granddog, Apache; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Service will be 3pm Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV 25313 with Military honors provided by the Army National Guard Honor Guard.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1pm at the funeral home.
It was Doug’s wishes to be cremated and be beside his loving wife, Charlotte.
